The virtual world is a space for an online community where people
interact and share stories just like in the real world. People are presented by
a profile they created with their pictures on display, names and bios, which
gives whole information about their real life. It became easy to reach out to
people they have no chance of meeting in the real world. It also keeps people
company when they have no one around in the real world. Virtual world can also
be defined as a computer stimulated environment which may be populated by users
who create a personal avatar and simultaneously and independently explore the
virtual world just like 3D games. But in this article, I would be referring to
virtual world in the branch of social media and the internet.
Now a day the virtual world is getting more attention than
the real world, people spend two-third (2/3) of their day hanging in the
virtual world which somehow came to an extent that it imposes negativity among
people. For most of our reactions, behaviors and sometimes appearances are
totally contrary to ours in the real world. The virtual world is supposed to be
a place where people met and know each other’s reality, but now a place where people
met and know each other’s virtual reality not actual reality. We could be
having thousand friends online, but yet we are lonely, we talk to them every
day, but none of them really who we are, a friend of yours can be very open and
interactive virtually but silent, shy and nervous in reality because one can
express emotions that have no feelings for in the real world. Another negativity
of the virtual world is that it gives people the liberty to claim ownership for
things they never owned in real life without anybody knowing because, that’s
the reality of the virtual world. Although the internet is a good place for
business, learning, interactions etc, our responsibilities in the real world
have priority over ours in the virtual world.
Mobile phones and internet made a huge contribution to the
21st century towards bringing the world together by making it easy
to interact with people of thousand miles away in seconds. The trouble it inflicts
among people is; people fake identities into the virtual world, because in the
virtual world, we create an avatar (profile) presenting us and our information,
everything that comes from the profile come from us. But now most of the
profiles don’t really describe who we are in the real world. Research shows
that mean experiences in the virtual world may lead to increased aggressive
behavior in the real world, but not just mean experience but all experiences
either good or bad can reflect in our real world.
All credits goes to the prodigies responsible for the
breakthrough of the internet, social platforms, mobile phones and computer as
well, because these gadgets brought the virtual world into existence and made
it possible to share our stories, life time experiences, knowledge etc, with
the population faster, easier and more accurate. Creating a profile that
describe and behave like who we really are give people chance of knowing our
reality via the virtual world and that is what it is all about.
